Mt. Poroshiri (幌尻岳)

Mt. Poroshiri (2,052 m) is the highest peak in the Hidaka range, a 100 Famous Mountain of Japan and one of the hardest. Reservation-only access: Toyonuka-sanso ⇔ Second Gate shuttle bus (¥10,000 round trip) + Horoshiri Hut (¥1,000/night, Jul–Sep only) must be booked together. Mt. Kusatsu-Shirane (草津白根山)

Mt. Ōmine (Sanjō-ga-take, 1,719 m) in Tenkawa, Nara is among the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan — the spiritual home of Shugendō, opened by En no Gyōja over 1,300 years ago. Mt. Aizu-Komagatake (2,133 m) in Hinoemata Village, Fukushima Prefecture is in Oze National Park and is among the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan. Mt. Ena (恵那山)

Mt. Ena (2,191 m) straddles Nakatsugawa in Gifu and Achi in Nagano Prefecture at the southern end of the Central Alps, counted among the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan. Named after the legend that the placenta (ena) of Amaterasu-Ōmikami was buried here.
