Mt. Kongo (金剛山)

Mt. Kongo (金剛山 Kongo-san) is a 1,125-meter peak straddling the border of Osaka and Nara Prefectures. It includes the highest point in Osaka Prefecture (1,053m) and has been revered as a sacred mountain since ancient times. Mt. Kongo is famous for its “daily climbing” culture — many locals climb it every day as a form of exercise, and the mountain is busy with hikers year-round.

To reach Kongo Tozanguchi from Tondabayashi Station, a transfer at Chihayaakasaka-mura-ritsu Chugakko-mae (Chihayaakasaka Junior High School) is required.

Step 1: Take the Nankai Bus from Tondabayashi Station to Chugakko-mae (approx. 24 min)
