Mt. Fukuchi
Mt. Fukuchi (福智山) is a 901m peak located in Fukuoka Prefecture. As the highest peak in the Kitakyushu area, it is counted as one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Kyushu. The summit is a 360-degree observation deck offering views as far as the Hibiki Sea and Mt. Hiko. It is also popular as a sunrise spot for the first day of the year.
From Fureai-Shoryoku Station on the Heisei Chikuho Railway, take a bus to the Ueno Gorge Entrance. There are multiple climbing routes, but the route starting from Ueno Gorge is the most popular.

The conventional fixed-schedule “Ueno / Ichiba Course” (¥200 fare, 6 services per day) ended operation on October 1, 2023. Currently it has migrated to the AI on-demand bus “Fuku~ru Bus” (reservation system).
- Operating hours: 8:30–17:00 (daily)
- Reservation method: Phone 0947-22-3300 (reception 8:30–16:30) or Fukuchi Town official LINE (24 hours)

- Non-town residents may also board (elementary/middle school students only cannot board)
Alternative: Taxi from Nogata Station to Ueno Gorge is about ¥3,100 (estimate).
From the Heisei Chikuho Railway Ita Line Akaike Station or Fureai-Shoryoku Station, you can travel to near Ueno Gorge Entrance by AI on-demand bus “Fuku~ru Bus” (reservation required).
If bus reservation is difficult, please use a taxi from Nogata Station (estimate about ¥3,100).

2. [Return] Ueno Gorge Entrance → Fureai-Shoryoku Station / Akaike Station
After descending, return from near Ueno Gorge Entrance to Akaike Station / Fureai-Shoryoku Station by AI on-demand bus “Fuku~ru Bus” (reservation required, phone 0947-22-3300).
If immediate use is difficult, walk to a store/facility around Ueno Gorge to re-reserve, or use a taxi back to Nogata Station.
