Practical Tips for Enjoying Tenen
- Views & Seasons: Katsujodan Viewpoint offers views across Sagami Bay to the Miura Peninsula. Spring foliage (April–May) and autumn leaves (November–December) are highlights. The fall colors around “Zuisenji to Lion-dance Valley” are particularly famous.
- Supplies & Restrooms: Shops and restrooms on the trail are limited. Use public restrooms at Kenchoji, near Zuisenji, and near Daitonomiya.
The Tenen teahouse (Tenen Rest House) operates irregularly, so always carry beverages and snacks. - Safety & Trail Etiquette: There are slippery clay slopes. After rain, watch for mud and slipping. Be aware of toxic fungi at tree bases and biting midges.
- Temple Viewing: Both Kenchoji and Zuisenji have viewing hours and admission fees. You cannot pass through outside these hours.
