Nikkō Shiranesan is a mountain with an elevation of 2,578m, located on the boundary between Nikkō City in Tochigi Prefecture and Tone District in Gunma Prefecture. It is the highest peak in the Kanto region and is also counted as one of the [100 Famous Japanese Mountains](https://en.culmina.jp/tag/japan100).
There are three starting points for hiking: Yumoto Onsen, Kanuma Trailhead, and Nikkō Shiranesan Ropeway. Especially, using the Nikkō Shiranesan Ropeway allows for a comparatively easier climb.
To get to these three trailheads, you can take a bus from Tobu Nikko Station or from Jōmō Kōgen Station and Numata Station areas.

From JR Nikko Station & Tobu Nikko Station, take the bus bound for Yumoto Onsen. Transfer at the Yumoto Onsen Bus Stop to the bus heading towards Nikkō Shiranesan Ropeway. Alight at any of the trailheads: Yumoto Onsen, Kanuma Bus Stop, or Nikkō Shiranesan Ropeway.
