Mt. Asama (浅間山 / 前掛山)

Mount Asama (浅間山　Asama-yama) is a volcano with an elevation of 2,568 meters, located on the border between Nagano Prefecture and Gunma Prefecture. It has been designated as an active volcano by the Japan Meteorological Agency, and although access to the areas near the summit is restricted, climbing as far as the forward Maekake Mountain (前掛山) is possible depending on the volcanic activity level.

There are two trailheads for climbing: “Asamayama Trailhead (浅間山登山口),” which has locations like Asamayama Lodge (浅間山荘) on the trail, and “In front of Takamine Kogen Hotel (高峰高原ホテル前),” where places like Takamine Onsen (高峰温泉) are located.
