Mt. Akagiyama (赤城山) is a 1,828m mountain in Gunma Prefecture. It is a famous volcano with a beautiful caldera lake (Onuma, 大沼) at its summit. The highest peak is Kurobi-san (黒檜山, 1,828m). Access is by Kan-Etsu Kotsu bus from Maebashi Station.

Take the Kan-Etsu Kotsu (関越交通) bus bound for Fujimi Onsen (富士見温泉) from Maebashi Sta. (前橋駅) or Chuo-Maebashi Sta. (中央前橋駅), then transfer at Fujimi Onsen (富士見温泉) to the bus bound for Akagi Hiroba-mae (あかぎ広場前). The ride takes about 33 minutes to Fujimi Onsen and about 43 minutes from Fujimi Onsen to Akagi Hiroba-mae. Fare: 700 yen to Fujimi Onsen + 1,300 yen to Akagi Hiroba-mae.

*The 7:32 bus runs direct (no transfer needed at Fujimi Onsen). The 11:10, 14:05, and 16:15 departures originate at Fujimi Onsen — take the Fujimi Onsen Line (runs every ~30 min) from Maebashi Sta. and transfer at Fujimi Onsen.
