Mt. Miyanoura is a 1,936m peak located in the central part of Yakushima Island, Kagoshima Prefecture. The entire island is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Mt. Miyanoura is listed among Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains.

There are two main trailheads: Shiratani Unsuikyo and Kigensugi, both accessible by Yakushima Kotsu bus from the island’s ports and airport.

From the Kigensugi bus stop to the Yodogawa trailhead is about 1.7 km along the town road, a 20-30 minute walk (the vehicle-restricted section begins about 800 m past Kigensugi). On the Shiratani Unsuikyo route, the bus stop itself is the trailhead. The course times start from the Yodogawa trailhead.
