Mt. Jinba (陣馬山)

Mount Jinba (陣馬山, Jinba-san) rises 854.8 meters on the border between Hachioji City in Tokyo and Sagamihara City in Kanagawa Prefecture. The summit features a famous white horse statue and offers a stunning 360-degree panoramic view, which includes the Tanzawa mountain range, Mt. Fuji, and even the Southern Alps on clear days.

Thanks to its well-maintained trails and several mountain huts located on or near the summit, Mount Jinba is a popular choice for both novice and seasoned hikers. Many people also like to use Mount Jinba as a starting point or a midway checkpoint on a longer trek—continuing on to Kageyama, or heading all the way to Mount Takao for an extended day hike.

There are two ways to access the trailhead from Takao station(高尾駅 Takao-Eki) or Fujino station(藤野駅 Fujino-Eki).
When getting on a bus from Takao station, get off at “Jinba-Kogen-Shita(陣馬高原下)”.
When getting on the bus from Fujino Station, get off at either “Jinba-Tozanguchi(陣馬登山口)”, “Kamisawai(上沢井)” or “Wada(和田)”.

1.【Go】Takao Sta.(高尾駅) → Jinba-Kogen-Shita(陣馬高原下)

From the north exit of Takao Station (JR or Keio Line), take bus #Bi32(美32) bound for Jinba-Kogen-Shita (陣馬高原下).
Boarding time: 37 minutes

It takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the bus stop to the mountain summit.

2.【Go】Fujino Sta.(藤野駅) → Jinba-Tozanguchi,Kamisawai,Wada(陣馬登山口・上沢井・和田)

From JR Fujino Station(藤野駅), take the bus bound for Wada[#No08(野08)] and get off at Jinba-Tozanguchi(陣馬登山口), Kamisawai(上沢井) or Wada(和田)
Climb time from each bus stop to the summit is as follows.
· Jinba-Tozanguchi(陣馬登山口): 1 hour 40 minutes
· Kamisawai(上沢井): 1 hour 40 minutes
· Wada(和田): 1 hour 10 minutes

3.【Return】Jinba-Kogen-Shita(陣馬高原下) → Takao Sta.(高尾駅)

Take the bus bound for Takao Station[#Reien32 霊園32].
Boarding time: 37 minutes
Fare: 560 yen

It takes about 1 hour from the summit to the Jinba-Kogen-Shita(陣馬高原下) bus stop.

4.【Return】Jinba-Tozanguchi,Kamisawai,Wada(陣馬登山口・上沢井・和田) → Fujino Sta.(藤野駅)

Take the bus bound for Fujino Station(藤野駅)from either bus stops Wada(和田), Kamisawai(上沢井) or JInba-Tozan-guchu(陣馬登山口).
The course times from the summit to the respective bus stops are as follows.
· Wada(和田): 1 hour
· Kamisawai(上沢井): 1 hour 20 minutes
· JInba-Tozan-Guchi(陣馬登山口): 1 hour 10 minutes
