Mt. Daisen (大山) is a 1,729m peak in Tottori Prefecture. One of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, it is also called “Hoki Fuji” for its beautifully balanced silhouette. It hosts one of western Japan’s largest beech forests and the colony of Daisen Kyaraboku (yew shrubs), designated a National Natural Monument.
From Daisenguchi Station or Hoki-Daisen Station on the JR San’in Main Line, access Daisenji by bus. The Natsuyama (Summer-Mountain) Trail is the most popular route.

About the Kengamine ridge closure

The traverse route between Misen and Kengamine that continues to the highest summit of Mt. Daisen, Kengamine (1,729m), is severely eroded and has been closed for many years. General climbers treat Misen (1,709m), the terminus of the Natsuyama Trail, as the summit. Please do not enter Kengamine, Tengugamine, or Zogahana.
