御岳山

Mt. Mitakesan (御岳山) is a 929m mountain in Ome City, Tokyo. It has long been a site of mountain worship, with Musashi Mitake Shrine (武蔵御嶽神社) at the summit and waterfall purification rituals along the trails. Easily accessible from central Tokyo, Mt. Mitakesan is frequently featured in hiking guides as one of the most popular mountains in the Tokyo area. A cable car makes access to the mountaintop convenient.

Beyond the summit, two waterfalls and a lush area called Rock Garden (ロックガーデン) offer a refreshing forest bathing experience. To reach Mt. Mitakesan, take a bus from JR Ome Line Mitake Station (御嶽駅) to Takimoto Station (滝本駅), then ride the cable car up to Mitakesan Station (御岳山駅).

a. From JR Mitake Station (御嶽駅), take the Nishi Tokyo Bus (西東京バス) routes Mi-10/Mi-11 from the bus stop to the left of the station exit, and get off at Cable-shita / Takimoto Station (ケーブル下/滝本駅).
