Mount Mitake (御岳山 Mitake-san) is a mountain with an altitude of 929 meters, located in Oume City, Tokyo (東京都青梅市). It has been a subject of mountain worship since ancient times, and Musashi Mitake Shrine (武蔵御嶽神社) is erected at the summit, with waterfall meditation practices also taking place at a waterfall located along the trail.
Often featured in magazines and the like as a mountain easily accessible from Tokyo, the popular “Mount Mitake” (御岳山) can be simply reached via cable car.
Deeper into Mount Mitake, there are two waterfalls and an area known as the Rock Garden, surrounded by greenery, where visitors can enjoy forest bathing.
The typical access to Mount Mitake involves taking a bus from Mitake Station (御嶽駅) on the JR Ome Line to the Cable Car Takimoto Station (ケーブルカー滝本駅), and from there, taking the cable car to Mitake Station (御岳山駅).
