川苔山

Mt. Kawanoriyama (川苔山) is a 1,363m mountain in the Okutama area of western Tokyo. Known for the spectacular 40-meter Hyakuhiro Falls (百尋ノ滝) and beautiful valley scenery along the trail, it is one of the most popular mountains in the Okutama region. The fresh green season and autumn foliage are especially recommended.

From JR Okutama Station (奥多摩駅), take a bus to Kawanoribashi (川乗橋) and hike to the summit via Hyakuhiro Falls — the most popular route (approx. 3 hours 40 minutes to the summit). You can also start directly from Hatonosu Station (鳩ノ巣駅, approx. 3 hours 15 minutes) or Kori Station (古里駅, approx. 3 hours 45 minutes).

The Kawanoribashi trail offers scenic valley walking, with the section up to Hyakuhiro Falls being the highlight. Beginners can enjoy a round trip to the falls. A popular option is to descend to Hatonosu Station for a loop route.

From JR Okutama Station (奥多摩駅), take the Nishi Tokyo Bus (西東京バス) Oku-20/Oku-21 bound for Higashi-Nippara/Shonyudo (東日原/鍾乳洞方面) and get off at Kawanoribashi (川乗橋).

2. [Going] Hatonosu Sta. (鳩ノ巣駅)

Walk from JR Hatonosu Station (鳩ノ巣駅) on the JR Ome Line to the summit of Mt. Kawanoriyama via the valley trail (approx. 3 hours 15 minutes).

Ride time: approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

3. [Going] Kori Sta. (古里駅)

Walk from JR Kori Station (古里駅) on the JR Ome Line to the summit of Mt. Kawanoriyama via the Akaguna Ridge (赤杭尾根, approx. 3 hours 45 minutes).

Ride time: approx. 1 hour 45 minutes

4. [Return] Kawanoribashi (川乗橋) → Okutama Sta. (奥多摩駅)

From Kawanoribashi (川乗橋), take the Nishi Tokyo Bus (西東京バス) Oku-20/Oku-21 bound for Okutama Station (奥多摩駅方面) and get off at the last stop, Okutama Station (奥多摩駅).
