Mt. Tōno-dake (塔ノ岳)

Mt. Tōno-dake (塔ノ岳) is a 1,491-meter-high mountain in the southern part of the Tanzawa Mountains in Kanagawa Prefecture. From its summit, you can see Mt. Fuji, making it one of the most popular mountains in the area.

There are two main trailheads to reach the summit: Yabitsu Pass (ヤビツ峠) and Okura (大倉). It takes about four hours from Yabitsu Pass and about three and a half hours from Okura.

The recommended route begins at Yabitsu Pass and finishes at Okura. Because it’s within a day’s travel from Tokyo and features both a ridgeline and chain-linked sections, it’s known as a good practice route before climbing the North Alps.

The Okura ridge is commonly referred to as the “Baka-One” (Stupid Ridge), and starting your hike from here is not recommended due to its long, steady ascent. Although many people climb this mountain as a day trip, you might consider staying at the Sonbutsu Sanso hut (尊仏山荘) at the summit. The night view of the Kanto region from there is spectacular.

Go to Odakyu Hadano Station, and from the bus stop in front of the station, take the Kanachu Bus "Hata 21 bound for Yabitu-Toge via Minoge(秦21 蓑毛経由ヤビツ峠行), and get off at Yabitu-Toge.

2. [Outward] Shibusawa Sta. to Ōkura

Go to Odakyu Shibusawa Station and take the bus "Shibu02 bound for Okura(渋02 大倉行)" from the north exit of the station and get off at Ōkura bus stop.
