Mt. Kintokiyama (金時山, 1,213m) sits at the northern rim of the Hakone caldera in Kanagawa Prefecture. Famous as the legendary home of Kintaro (the golden boy of Japanese folklore), the summit offers a spectacular panorama of Mt. Fuji, the Hakone outer rim mountains, and Sagami Bay. Accessible by direct highway bus from Shinjuku or local bus from Gotemba Station, it makes an excellent day trip from Tokyo.

The recommended route starts from Otome Pass (乙女峠) bus stop, climbing along the ridge through Mt. Nagao to the summit, then descending to Kintoki Shrine (金時神社/公時神社). Standard hiking time is approx. 1 hour 45 minutes up, 1 hour 20 minutes down. The trail features stone steps, tree roots, and rocky scrambles near the summit.
