Mt. Kintoki (金時山)

Mount Kintoki (金時山 Kintoki-yama) is located in Hakone at an elevation of 1213m and is the setting for the famous Japanese folk tale, Kintaro.From the top of the mountain, you can get a great view of Mount Fuji up close.

The recommended route starts at the Otome-Toge bus stop and heads up to the summit of the mountain, then down to the Kintoki Shrine.
It takes about 1 hour and 45 minutes from the Otome Pass bus stop to the top of the mountain. There is a direct bus service from Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, so this mountain is very popular for easy access.

1. [To] Shinjuku Station → Otome Pass → Kintoki Shrine entrance → Kintoki trailhead

Take the Odakyu Hakone Highway Bus on the Hakone Line at the Shinjuku Highway Bus Terminal at the south exit of Shinjuku Station and get off at the Otome-Toge pass bus stop(乙女峠バス停).
Ride time: 1 hour 54 minutes
Fare: 1840 yen

Depending on traffic congestion on the Tomei Expressway, arrival may be delayed by 1-2 hours on weekends.
We recommend early departure.

2. [Outward] Gotemba Sta. to Otome-Toge Pass to Kintoki Shrine Entrance to Kintoki-Tozanguchi

Go to Gotemba Station(御殿場駅), and from the bus stop in front of the station, take the Hakone Line Yamanouchi Shuttle Bus or Odakyu Hakone Highway Bus (Hakone Line) coming from Shinjuku and get off at the Otome-Toge stop.(乙女峠)

The Odakyu Hakone Express Bus is the same bus from Shinjuku.
The express bus may be delayed for 1-2 hours on weekends due to traffic congestion on the Tomei Expressway, so departure on time is not expected.

At the bus stop at the entrance of Kintoki Shrine, take the Odakyu Hakone Highway Bus bound for Shinjuku and get off at Shinjuku Station.
