Mt. Omuro (Nishi-Tanzawa)

Mt. Omuroyama in Nishi-Tanzawa is a quiet, distinguished peak where you can savor the deep wilderness of the Tanzawa Mountains. Starting from the Nishi-Tanzawa Visitor Center, you can ascend to the ridgeline via Inukoe-ji Pass and make a circuit via Mt. Kanyudo for a satisfying day hike of about 7.5 hours and 14km. While the summit is surrounded by forest with limited views, vistas open up at “Omuroyama’s Shoulder” and before Mae-Omuro, offering views of Mt. Fuji and the Tanzawa main ridge on clear days. The mountain’s appeal includes deep beech forests, fresh greenery and autumn foliage, and seasonal flowers like azaleas in early summer and monkshood in autumn. (Note: This is a different mountain from Mt. Omuro in Ito, Izu.)

For public transport access, the standard starting point is the Nishi-Tanzawa Visitor Center, accessible by bus from Odakyu Shin-Matsuda Station or JR Gotemba Line Yaga Station.

From Odakyu Shin-Matsuda Station (North Exit Bus Terminal) or JR Yaga Station, take the Fujikyu Mobility bus bound for Nishi-Tanzawa Visitor Center and get off at the last stop.
