Mt. Fuji (富士山) is a 3,776m peak straddling the border of Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefectures, both one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains and Japan’s highest peak. This page introduces access to the Gotemba trailhead and Subashiri trailhead on the Shizuoka side. The Gotemba route has a large elevation gain and is for the strong-legged; the Subashiri trailhead is characterized by forest walking and a sand-running descent.
From Gotemba Station on the JR Gotemba Line, access each 5th station by bus (summer operation).

[About Mt. Fuji entry regulations (from 2025)]
From 2025, an entry fee of ¥4,000 (per person, per visit) is required at all trailheads. Entry from the 5th station is restricted from 2pm to 3am the next day (those with mountain hut reservations can pass). Pre-registration can be done via the smartphone app “Shizuoka Prefecture FUJINAVI”. Please check the latest information on the Mt. Fuji Climbing Official Site.
