Mount Yamizo (八溝山 Yamizo-san) is a mountain standing at an altitude of 1,022 meters, straddling the border between Ibaraki and Fukushima Prefectures. It is also the highest peak in Ibaraki Prefecture.

The mountain has been an object of worship since ancient times, with the Yamizo Ridge Shrine, dedicated to the deity of bountiful harvests, at its summit, and the Nichirin Temple located at its eighth station.

This guide introduces the access methods and timetable for reaching the Ja-kechi (蛇穴) trailhead bus stop. It is approximately a three-hour hike to the summit from there.

From JR Hitachi-Daigo Station, take the Ibaraki Kotsu bus bound for Ja-kechi (蛇穴) and get off at the Ja-kechi bus stop.
