Mt. Iizuna

Mt. Iizuna (飯縄山) is a 1,917m peak in Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, one of the 200 Famous Japanese Mountains and the 100 Famous Shinshu Mountains.
One of the Hokushin Gogaku (Five Peaks of Northern Shinano), south of the Togakushi range, its charm is a 360-degree panorama of the Northern Alps, Mt. Togakushi, and the Zenkoji Plain from the summit. A sacred mountain lined with thirteen Buddhist statues along the trail, it is popular and accessible even for beginners.
From Nagano Station, access the Iizuna Trailhead by Alpico Transportation Bus.

The climb starts at the Ichi-no-torii grounds right by the Iizuna Trailhead bus stop.
From Ichi-no-torii, climbing past the thirteen Buddhist statues and over the south peak to the Iizuna summit takes about 2 hours 20 minutes; a round trip takes roughly 4 hours 30 minutes.
*At around 1,900m, the ridge can be windy. Beware of lingering snow and sudden weather changes.

From the Zenkoji Exit of Nagano Station, take the Alpico Transportation Bus “Route 70: Togakushi Line” and get off at the Iizuna Trailhead.
