Mt. Asama-Kakushi-Yama is a 1,757m peak on the border of Higashi-Agatsuma Town in Gunma Prefecture and Tsumagoi Village in Nagano Prefecture. It is selected as one of Japan’s 200 Famous Mountains and Kanto’s 100 Famous Mountains.

The shortest course from the Asama-Kakushi-Yama Trailhead reaches the summit in about 1.5 to 2 hours. From the summit, you can enjoy a magnificent frontal view of Mt. Asama, and as the mountain’s name suggests (“the mountain that hides Asama”), its imposing presence and panoramic views are its greatest appeal. However, public transport access to the Asama-Kakushi-Yama Trailhead is limited, so this page introduces bus access to Shimizu (Asama-Kakushi Onsen-go) on the northeast side.
