Mt. Shibutsu (至仏山)

Mt. Shibutsu (至仏山, 2228.1m) is a peak in Oze National Park, northeastern Gunma Prefecture. Together with Mt. Hiuchi to the east, it is one of the great mountains of Oze and is listed among the Nihon Hyakumeizan (100 Famous Mountains of Japan). The most convenient access is via Hatomachi-toge (Hatomachi Pass).

From Jomo-Kogen Station (Shinkansen) or Numata Station (JR Joetsu Line), take the Kan-Etsu Kotsu bus to Tokura, then transfer to the Tokura–Hatomachi-toge shuttle bus. Buses from Jomo-Kogen are infrequent; if using the Shinkansen, transferring at Takasaki to the JR Joetsu Line and boarding at Numata Station is recommended.

1. Going: Jomo-Kogen / Numata Sta. → Tokura → Hatomachi-toge

Step 1: From Jomo-Kogen Station or Numata Station, take the Kan-Etsu Kotsu bus bound for Hatomachi-toge area and get off at Tokura (Hatomachi-toge Bus Transfer Point).

Step 2: At Tokura, transfer to the Tokura–Hatomachi-toge shuttle bus to Hatomachi-toge.

Operating period: Until November 3, 2025.

Schedule A operating days: Apr 18 – May 23 weekends/holidays, May 24 – Aug 17 daily, Aug 18 – Sep 12 weekends/holidays, Sep 13 – Oct 19 daily.

Schedule B operating days: Apr 18 – May 23 weekdays, Oct 20 – Nov 3 daily.

2. Return: Hatomachi-toge → Tokura → Numata / Jomo-Kogen Sta.

Step 1: From Hatomachi-toge, take the shuttle bus to Tokura (Bus Transfer Point).

Step 2: At Tokura, transfer to the Kan-Etsu Kotsu bus bound for Numata Station / Jomo-Kogen Station.
