Mt. Kirishima is a volcanic group on the Kagoshima–Miyazaki prefectural border, including the highest peak Karakuni-dake (1,700 m) and the mythological Takachiho-no-mine (1,574 m). The Scenic Loop Bus connects the main trailheads at Ebino Kogen and Takachihogawara. Shinmoedake remains at volcanic alert level 2.
