Kirifuri Kogen (霧降高原) is a plateau at about 1,200m elevation spreading on the eastern foot of Mt. Nyoho in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture.
Mt. Maruyama (1,689m) is located deep in Kirifuri Kogen, and together with the plateau is selected as one of the 100 Famous Mountains of Kanto. In early summer, the large colonies of Nikko-kisuge are splendid, and you can enjoy plateau views by climbing the 1,445-step Tenku Kairo (Sky Corridor).
From JR Nikko Station / Tobu Nikko Station, you can access Kirifuri Kogen by route bus.

From JR Nikko Station or Tobu Nikko Station, board the Tobu Bus Nikko “bound for Kirifuri Kogen / Osasa Pasture” and get off at Kirifuri-no-Taki or Kirifuri Kogen. From Kirifuri-no-Taki you can enjoy hiking to the Taki-mi-dai (Waterfall Viewing Deck), and from Kirifuri Kogen you can enjoy climbing Mt. Maruyama via the Sky Corridor.
