Mt. Washibadake is a 2,924m peak on the border of Toyama and Nagano Prefectures and one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. It forms the core of the Northern Alps’ Ura-Ginza Traverse Route, and from the summit a 360-degree panorama unfolds encompassing Mt. Yarigatake, Mt. Hotakadake, Mt. Suishodake, and Mt. Kurobegoro. The spectacular view of Washiba Pond just below the summit with Mt. Yarigatake in the background is one of the most iconic scenes of the Northern Alps.
The trailhead is Oridachi. Take a bus from Arimine-guchi Station on the Toyama Chiho Railway. The same trailhead is also used for Yakushidake and Suishodake.
