Mt. Kashimayari-gatake is a renowned 2,889m peak in the Ushiro-Tateyama Range, straddling Toyama and Nagano Prefectures. Along with Mt. Tsurugi, Mt. Tateyama, and Mt. Karamatsu, it is one of the mountains where existing glaciers (Kakunezato Glacier) have been confirmed in Japan. It is one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains, and its beautiful twin-peaked profile is very popular.
The trailhead at Ogizawa can be reached by route bus from JR Shinano-Omachi Station, express bus from Nagano Station, or overnight bus from Tokyo (Mainichi Alpen-go).
The trailhead is Ogizawa. Buses run from JR Shinano-Omachi Station or JR Nagano Station. Overnight buses from Tokyo are also available (Mainichi Alpen-go).
