Mt. Kurobegoro is a 2,840m peak on the border of Toyama and Gifu Prefectures and one of Japan’s 100 Famous Mountains. Its defining feature is the massive cirque (glacial valley) spreading below the summit, where the U-shaped valley carved by glaciers and alpine flower fields create scenery of outstanding beauty, among the finest in the Northern Alps. As a key point on both the Ura-Ginza Traverse Route and the Nishi-Ginza Diamond Course, it is beloved by many traverse hikers.
The trailhead is Oridachi. Take a bus from Arimine-guchi Station on the Toyama Chiho Railway. The same trailhead is also used for Yakushidake.
