Mt. Jiigadake is a 2,670m peak in the Ushiro-Tateyama Range of the Northern Alps, straddling Toyama and Nagano Prefectures. With three peaks — North, Main (Central), and South — the southern slopes are adorned with Komakusa and Hakusan-furo in early summer, earning it a place among the 100 Famous Flower Mountains. It is also one of Japan’s 300 Famous Mountains and the New 100 Famous Mountains. Day hikes via the Kashiwabara New Trail are popular.
The trailhead at Ogizawa can be reached by route bus from JR Shinano-Omachi Station, express bus from Nagano Station, or overnight bus from Tokyo (Mainichi Alpen-go).
