Mt. Kobushigatake (甲武信ヶ岳) is a 2,475m peak at the border of Yamanashi, Saitama, and Nagano Prefectures. One of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, it is known as the headwaters region of the Arakawa, Chikuma, and Fuefuki Rivers, and the attractions are deep virgin forest and high mountain ridge walking. The rhododendron blooming season is especially popular.
From Enzan Station on the JR Chuo Main Line, access Nishizawa Valley Entrance by bus, or from Shinano-Kawakami Station on the JR Koumi Line, access Mokidaira Trailhead by taxi.
It is designated as 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, New 100 Mountains of Flowers, 100 Famous Mountains of Kanto, 100 Famous Mountains of Koshinetsu, 100 Famous Mountains of Yamanashi, and 100 Famous Mountains of Shinshu.
When using public transportation, the trailheads are approaches from Nishizawa Valley Entrance and Azusayama bus stop,
and the round-trip course from Nishizawa Valley Entrance is recommended.
