Mt. Ryokami (両神山) is a 1,723m peak in Ogano Town, Chichibu District, Saitama Prefecture, and one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains.
Its distinctive feature is the saw-tooth-shaped sharp rocky ridge running along its slopes. The seasonal nature is beautiful — Akayashio in spring, autumn foliage, etc. — and it is beloved by many hikers. It is also a mountain with a deep history as a Shugendo sacred peak.
The common access is from Seibu-Chichibu Station, transferring buses to reach the trailhead at Hinata-Oyaguchi.

Since 4 June 2026, the sections Kamiochiaibashi trailhead – Mt. Ryokami summit, Sakamoto – Hatchō-tōge and Mt. Suwa summit – Hatchō-tōge have been closed for the time being to prevent bear attacks (Saitama Prefecture). A bear was also seen near Higashidake on the mountain itself on 31 May, so carry a bear bell even on the Hinata-Ōyaguchi approach, which remains open. The Nanataki-zawa course is closed. Also, the access road to the Hatcho Tunnel Trailhead (Prefectural Road 279) is closed due to a forest road collapse. The main approach from Hinata-Oyaguchi (via Kiyotaki Hut) is passable.

Day hike feasibility (public transport)
The round-trip course time for Ryokamisan (Hinata-Oya-guchi, main pilgrimage route) is about 7.5 hours. Right beside the Hinata-Oya-guchi bus stop, a short flight of steps leads up to Ryokami Sansō lodge (where you submit your climbing plan), and it is a 3–5 minute walk to the trailhead of the main pilgrimage route. Buses are infrequent and a day hike is very tight: you must take an early bus from Mitsumineguchi Station (arriving Hinata-Oya-guchi 8:50) and catch the last bus, which leaves Hinata-Oya-guchi at 17:15. Via Seibu-Chichibu Station (arriving 9:48) you cannot make the last bus even at course-time pace, so a day hike is difficult. For more margin, stay at Kiyotaki Hut or lodge nearby the night before.
