Mt. Hirugatake (蛭ヶ岳)

Mt. Hirugatake is a 1,673m peak in the central part of the Tanzawa mountain range. It is the highest peak in both the Tanzawa range and Kanagawa Prefecture. As the tallest mountain in Tanzawa, there is nothing to block the view from the summit — on clear days you can see Mt. Fuji, the Southern Alps, Yatsugatake, Oku-Chichibu mountains, and even Tokyo Tower. Due to its central location in the Tanzawa range, day hikes are tight on time, and an overnight stay at a mountain hut is the standard approach.

Routes include the traverse from Yabitsu Pass or Okura bus stop via Mt. Tonotake and Mt. Tanzawasan, the route from Nishi-Tanzawa Visitor Center via Mt. Hinokiboramaru, and the route from Higashino bus stop on the Sagamiko side. This page introduces the access from Higashino bus stop.

特に土日祝日は橋本駅を06:20発のバスしか間に合わない為、あまり現実的では無いです。

1. Going: Hashimoto Sta. → Mikage → Higashino

Step 1. From Hashimoto Station, take the bus bound for Mikage and get off at Mikage.
Travel time: Approx. 36 min / Fare: 520 yen

Step 2. From Mikage, take the bus bound for Tsukiyono or Higashino and get off at Higashino.
Travel time: Approx. 34 min / Fare: 610 yen

*Note: Buses from Mikage to Higashino are infrequent. On weekends & holidays in particular, only the 6:20 departure from Hashimoto Station connects, making it not very practical.
*Buses may not connect due to delays.
