Mt. Sanage (猿投山) is a 629m peak in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. With easy access and an approachable difficulty, it is also called “the Mt. Takao of Aichi” and is the most popular hiking spot for locals. A path through nature runs from the sacred grove of Sanage Shrine at the foot up to the summit, enjoyable through all four seasons. The observation deck also offers a view of the Nagoya cityscape.
From Toyotashi Station on the Meitetsu Mikawa Line, access Sanage Shrine Mae by bus.

The Toyotashi Station Bus Terminal was reorganized on April 1, 2026 (East Exit alighting area abolished, consolidated at West Exit; some bus stop names changed: “Yokoyamacho” → “Aioicho Shinbashi”). The Fujioka-Toyota Line bound for Sanage Shrine Mae continues to operate from Toyotashi Station West Exit; please verify the latest times.

This page introduces the most popular route, climbing from Sanage Shrine.
