Mt. Hōō

Mt. Hōō (Hōō Sanzan: Jizō-ga-take, Kannon-dake 2,840 m, Yakushi-dake) is in Yamanashi Prefecture, counted among the 100 Famous Mountains of Japan. The white-granite ridge and the obelisk of Jizō-ga-take are iconic. Access via Yamanashi Kōtsū bus from Kofu Station to Yashajin-tōge, or via Kayagatake Tourist Bus (reservation-based) from Nirasaki Station to Aoki-kōsen or Gozaishi-onsen. 2-day overnight traverse recommended.
